Golpata jaggery, locally known as Golpatar Gur, is a unique and traditional sweetener deeply rooted in the culture of southern Bangladesh, especially in the coastal areas of Khulna, Bagerhat, and the Sundarbans region. Made from the sap of the golpata palm (Nypa fruticans), which grows abundantly in the tidal mangrove forests, this jaggery is a natural, chemical-free alternative to processed sugar.
